At Inside Aesthetics Dermal fillers are one of our most popular treatments. Dermal fillers are such a great alternative to unnecessary surgery as it’s a non-invasive procedure that adds volume to your skin and reduces the appearance of aging.
Before anyone should consider having dermal fillers, it’s a good idea to understand everything about them, so you can make an informed decision to see if this treatment is right for you and can achieve your expected results.
We have put together a mini consultation guide outline all the facts that you should know about dermal fillers.
What is in a dermal filler?
Dermal fillers are most commonly used on your face to add volume and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They are an injectable gel-like substance, made primarily of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring substance found in your body.
When injected in the face, in areas such as: lips, cheeks, chin, jawline, nose, under the eyes, it can help sagging or wrinkled skin, plump, lift and tighten your skin, leaving you looking refreshed and more youthful.
How long does dermal filler last?
How long the effects of dermal fillers will last depends on the product, the area of the treatment and the patient. Typically, the denser the product is and the more deeply it is infected, the longer it will last. Dermal fillers used in the lips, will be softer and dermal fillers used in the cheeks. The dermal filler used for the cheeks will be placed on top of bone and will be thicker, therefore will last longer than filler placed in the lips. Facial fillers should last between 9-18 months but lip fillers will last between 4-6 months.
Patient lifestyle will also play a part in how long they last. A patient that is exposed to a lot of sun, alcohol, smoking, perhaps excessive exercise may find their filler will not last as long.
Are dermal fillers good for your skin?
Dermal fillers treat fine lines and wrinkles as well as sagging skin and help to replace volume. They have the additional benefit of boosting your skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, so your revitalised appearance will last longer.
Dermal fillers are very versatile to work with and can be used on many areas of face including:
Cheeks – can be used to help lift and shape your face.
Lips: can be used on your lips giving more volume, reducing the signs of ageing and adjusting the shape of your lips especially if you have asymmetry.
Chin or Nose – dermal fillers are an effective non-surgical option for sculpting or reshaping areas such as your nose, jawline and chin.
Under eye filler – can be used to reduce the appearance of tired, hollow eyes.
Are dermal fillers better than botox?
Dermal fillers are a very different treatment to botox. Dermal fillers are used when volume is lacking. Botox is used to soften the muscles especially around the forehead and eyes. It’s important to have a consultation with your client to fully understand their concerns so you can advise the best treatment plan. Dermal fillers and Botox work really well together if you are looking for a refreshed, youthful appearance. At Inside Aesthetics we offer complimentary consultations so you can discuss fully with our highly experienced aesthetic practitioners.
