What does the Lumecca IPL do?
Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment which is a type of light therapy used to treat aging, pigmentation, rosacea and spider veins, whilst stimulating collagen and elastin, resulting in a clearer and more radiant complexion.
The light pulses target the pigmentation, which is then either absorbed by the skin or flakes off in the following days after treatment.
Lumecca offers a complete photo rejuvenation in 1-3 treatments versus 5-6 treatments with standard IPL. It reduces treatment time thanks to large spot size and high pulse repetition rate. Also, its strong sapphire cooling tip helps to reduce any pain experienced. The treatment is very comfortable.
How long does Lumecca last?
To ensure optimum results you may be required to have between 1-3 treatments. However, sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look more youthful and brighter over time with the most visible results at 1-2 weeks. Clients can expect the results to last 12-18 months, however we do advise maintenance treatments to maintain the desired results. A good skincare regime with a factor 50 SPF would need to be followed to prolong results.
How much does Lumecca cost?
Lumecca is an affordable treatment. At Inside Aesthetics we do recommend for clients to have a consultation prior to treatment to ensure suitability of the treatment, discuss any questions, see before and after pictures and have a patch test (which needs to be performed before treatment). What is the difference between laser and Lumecca IPL?
IPL is similar to a laser treatment. However, a laser focuses just on one wavelength of light, while IPL releases light of many different wavelengths, like a photo flash. The light from IPL is more scattered and less focused than a laser. IPL penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis), so it causes less damage to your skin.
Pigment cells in your skin absorb the light energy, which is converted into heat. The heat destroys the unwanted pigment to clear up freckles and other pigmented spots.
